Features: Radio Garden features an immersive, interactive 3D globe that allows users to explore live radio broadcasts from virtually anywhere on Earth. By rotating the globe and zooming into specific locations, users can pinpoint local radio stations and listen to them in real-time. The interface offers a seamless "tuning" experience, complete with visual markers for cities, a search function to find specific locations, and the ability to save favorite stations for quick access. It acts as a digital bridge, capturing the authentic soundscape of global cultures without complex setups or geographical barriers.

History: Originally launched in 2016, Radio Garden began as an experimental research project commissioned by the Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision. It was developed in collaboration with Studio Puckey and Studio Moniker to explore the potential of global radio as a medium for connecting people and fostering cross-cultural understanding. By visualizing radio waves that know no borders, the project evolved from a temporary digital art exhibition into a permanent, widely used platform for global discovery.

Use cases: Radio Garden is perfect for language learners who want to practice immersion by listening to native speakers in real-time or for music lovers seeking to discover niche genres and regional styles from distant lands. It is also an excellent tool for travelers reminiscing about past trips, expatriates staying connected to their home countryโ€™s pulse, and curious listeners who want to experience the daily news, talk radio, and pop culture of different nations from the comfort of their own homes.
